Okuma – Model LR35-M

This is a heavy-duty horizontal CNC lathe / turning center built by Okuma, designed for precision turning and multi-turret operations. The “-M” version suggests live-tooling capability (i.e. milling/drilling in addition to standard turning), giving it multitasking capability. With dual turrets and a robust spindle, the LR35-M is used to turn fairly large workpieces and can handle both simple and complex geometries in a single setup, increasing productivity and minimizing need for multiple machines.

Capabilities & What It Can Manufacture

Because of its configuration, the Okuma LR35-M is capable of:

• Turning: External turning, facing, taper turning, cylindrical and conical surfaces.

• Drilling / Milling (with live tooling option): Machining secondary features (holes, slots, flats, drill holes) on cylindrical parts without removing the part from the chuck.

• Bar-stock machining: With bar-feed or using chuck/bar capacity, long runs of cylindrical parts can be machined.

• Batch & production work: Twin-turret and live-tooling reduce cycle time — ideal for producing large batches with high repeatability.

• Complex multi-feature parts: Combines turning + milling/drilling in one setup; suitable for parts needing multiple operations.
